I've added a section on the Chinese samyukta Agama, and a few sutras. This is an experiment in widening the focus of Wikipitaka beyond the 'Pali-only'. I had some conversation with the founder of Wikipitaka, Fah Sathirapongsasuti, about this, and he said:
'About the Wikipitaka, the reason that I start off with just Pali Tipitaka is because it seems more realistic and achievable. However, I agree with you about the situation of Buddhist texts in other traditions. Only a few suttas have been translated, some of them into Thai, some into English. I know just a few Thai monks who are working on translating these suttas into Thai; but not English.
I share your concern on this. I, too, want to see more translations and studies of these other suttas and believe as well that it can be achieved in the Wiki setting. Having said that, I am willing to change some structure and objectives of the Wikipitaka to serve this broader purpose better. Some changes that I am thinking of making are the description of the web, the root menu, and the menu box. We can add another set of page on some other canons as well.'
In this spirit I have made a start. The structure of the wikipitaka obviously needs changing to reflect the broader textual corpus more thoroughly. But anyway, this is something to think about... Bhante Sujato 23:00, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
