THIRD KHANDHAKA (RESIDENCE DURING THE RAINY SEASON,VASSA)
Chapter-8 : Travel Allowed to Fetch Wood for Repairs & other Sangha's Business.
At that time a Vihara(monastery) belonging to the Sangha went to ruin. A certain upasaka had a quantity of wood cut in the forest. He sent a messenger to the Bhikkhus (saying), 'If their reverences will fetch that wood, I will give it to them.'
They told this thing to the Lord Buddha.
'I allow you, O Bhikkhus(Monks), to go out on the Sangha's business. Within seven days you ought to return.
End of the first Bhanavara about the vassa(rains) residence.
